Stichting Discovering Diversity is proud to present a project that is a first of its kind in the Netherlands: The Kali Cultural and Recreational Centre (Kali Mandir).
The architecture of this landmark building is a breathtaking masterpiece of intentional design. It has been meticulously crafted to resemble a traditional Vedic Temple, seamlessly integrated with a refined European touch. By harmonizing Vedic Vastu Shastra—the ancient Indian science of sacred geometry—with local architectural elegance, we are creating a unique sanctuary of peace and positive energy that feels both timeless and perfectly at home in the European landscape.
The Arrival of Ma Kali: A Sacred Journey from Chitpur
As one of the few dedicated spaces for Ma Kali in Europe, the spiritual life of this centre begins with the arrival of the Divine Mother. Her sacred Vigraha is currently being hand-carved by master artisans in Chitpur, Kolkata, a region world-renowned for its centuries-old tradition of creating divine forms.
This specific manifestation of the Mother is being sculpted from a single, solid block of sacred Black Koushika Shila. Weighing more than 150kg, this magnificent deity represents strength, protection, and timeless energy. The journey of the Mother from the heart of India to her new home in the Netherlands is a monumental undertaking, symbolizing our deep commitment to authenticity and our living cultural roots.

Work is currently in full swing in Lelystad. The structure is taking shape, and we are moving closer to our goal every day. Designed as a vibrant cultural hub, the centre is a space where tradition, reflection, and community gathering meet in harmony. It is our vision to create a landmark that serves both the spiritual heart and the social life of the Netherlands.
To complete this ambitious fusion of Vedic tradition and European craftsmanship, we need your support. Your contributions will directly fund:
